Embark Studios has just released details for the massive December update, and it looks like survival is about to get a lot colder and more lucrative.
Starting December 16, the Winter hits the Rust Belt update introduces brutal new weather conditions, a festive limited-time event, and a brand-new Raider Deck to shake up your gameplay.
New Cold Snap Map Condition
The most immediate danger arriving in Arc Raiders is the new Cold Snap map condition.
The valleys of The Blue Gate are freezing over, meaning the environment itself has become a formidable enemy.
This is not just cosmetic snow, as the freezing weather acts as a ticking clock. If you stay out in the open for too long, the cold will cut your Raider down in minutes. Forcing you to seek shelter indoors or heal rapidly to stay alive.
The Red Lakes have also frozen, creating slippery and unsteady terrain.
Combine that with compromised vision from heavy blizzards. Then getting pinned down by enemy fire in the open becomes a dangerous tactical error.
Flickering Flames Limited-Time Event
From December 16 to January 13, the Flickering Flames event brings some much-needed warmth to the underground colony of Speranza.
This limited-time event centres around the Candleberry Bush, a hardy winter plant used for fuel, food, and medicine.
Your mission is to head Topside and collect Candleberries along with other essential winter items to keep the colony running. Turning in these items will net you Raider Tokens, weapons, rare utility items, cosmetics, and Merits.
It is the perfect opportunity for Arc Raiders players to grind for gear while helping their fellow Speranzans survive the harsh winter months.
The Goalie Raider Deck
Just in time for post-Christmas gaming, a new permanent Raider Deck called The Goalie drops on December 26.
This new deck is completely free to access for all Arc Raiders players.
As you earn Cred Topside, you will unlock a series of rewards including Raider Tokens and cosmetics.
The flagship skin for this deck is described as an old world gladiator outfit, which turns out to be a hockey player ensemble complete with a unique hockey stick Raider Tool.

With the Cold Snap condition and Flickering Flames event starting on December 16. The Goalie Raider Deck arriving on December 26, there is plenty of content to explore.
The event wraps up on January 13, so put on your warmest gear and get ready to face the blizzard.
