We’re a little behind the curve after a week off, but Battlefield 6 is coming and EA/DICE gave us a little taster clip last week.
There’s a multiplayer trailer to come out in the next couple of days, so whilst playing catch-up. Here’s our quick Battlefield 6 assessment, based on what we’ve seen!
Setting the stage
Truth be told, the biggest surprise for me was that the trailer seems to show an actual solo campaign, unlike Battlefield 2042.
Set in the near future against a backdrop of escalating global conflict. Pretty standard, but it’ll do the job, I’m sure. And it won’t be as dull as Battlefield V, surely?
The story kicks off with a cinematic trailer showing the President of the United States addressing the nation after a series of devastating attacks.
These attacks are attributed to a formidable new enemy: a private military corporation known as Pax Armata.

NATO vs. Pax Armata
The central conflict of the campaign revolves around the clash between NATO forces and Pax Armata.
This private military group is reportedly bankrolled by former NATO states, adding a layer of political intrigue to the narrative.
The story is further complicated by France’s departure from the NATO alliance and the assassination of NATO’s Secretary General in Brussels.
Battlefield 6 sets the stage for a sprawling, global conflict, with battles taking place in various locations, including the streets of New York City.

Factions
NATO
The familiar alliance of Western nations, now facing a significant threat from a well-funded and technologically advanced private military.
Pax Armata
The primary antagonist, a private military corporation with a mysterious agenda that threatens to plunge the world into all-out war.

Mission Glimpses
While a full mission list has not been revealed, some details have emerged from leaks and the official trailer:
Dam Destruction
One of the most prominent scenes showcased so far involves the explosive destruction of a dam in Tajikistan. Leaked work-in-progress footage has given players a glimpse of this mission’s dramatic finale.
Urban Warfare
The trailer also features intense combat sequences in urban environments, suggesting that players will be fighting in densely populated areas like New York City.

Here we go!
Battlefield 6 seems to be promising a return to a modern, high-stakes military narrative. With a cinematic experience and large-scale battles, a story of betrayal and global conflict, and the series’ signature environmental destruction.
As a Battlefield 2042 fan (one of only a handful if online communities are to be listened to….), I’m really happy to see more of the modern military, as opposed to the tedium of World War 1/2.
Lets see what else we learn tomorrow during the dedicated multiplayer reveal on July 31st.
