The team at Fifine have sent me a headset to review. The Ampligame H9 Gaming Headset. Something I’ve been really keen to try from their product range, as I’ve done a couple of microphones and their mixer. Headsets have become a bit of a thing for me, both here at ninjarefinery.com at over at fullsync.co.uk
Having become a wireless headset convert, I was nervous about being caught-up in cables again with the Ampligame H9. But that’s such a daft way to look at it.
With the excellent SC3 Audio Mixer, I needed a 3.5mm cabled headset to really up my game again. Now I’m able to switch audio between speakers and headset, on the fly. Even using it to monitor the mic!
Convenience aside, how does the Ampligame H9 stack-up as a headset?
Let’s see.
Ampligame H9 – In the box
Fifne are never ones to skimp on in-the-box options, and the Ampligame H9 is no different. The headset itself is modular in as much as the microphone is detachable (important when you already have an external mic!). It also comes with a USB in-line mixer, to help control mic and headset volume on the fly.
Nothing new or novel here, but for the price point, you don’t always get these bells and whistles. Everything works great, it’s easy to setup and use. And the Ampligame H9 delivers from the moment you open the box.
There’s a manual, too. This sounds daft, but these days, the amount of gear I’ve had without any kind of printed manual/instructions is a high proportion. Nice to see Fifine still going the extra mile there.
Ampligame H9 – Build
We’ll come to sound quality in a moment, but the area a headset tends to suffer the most when it comes to being on the lower end of the cost scale, is build quality.
Fifine deliver yet again, though. The Ampligame H9 is great.
Super light-weight, which is always important when you’re gaming for hours and hours at a time. Also, super soft. The finish is immaculate, top to bottom.
I opted for the white unit, because it’s much easier to see blemishes and build defects. There’s nothing wrong with this unit at all. The Ampligame H9 is great!
Braided cables, soft earmuffs and headband that can take a little bit of wear. This is a solid unit built to last. Something you don’t always see at this price point.
Ampligame H9 – Audio quality
Let’s be honest, there’s a lot in the “gaming” peripherals market these days. Plenty of options, but quality and value are hard to come by. You can but high-end gear, sure. But you see lots of low-cost, low-quality kit out there, for sure.
The Ampligame H9, sits comfortably in the “great value” category here. The headset works a treat whether you’re gaming, chatting, listening to music or watching something.
I’ve found the bass to be suitable low, not the best I’ve heard, but you can clearly detect the lows and hear them separated from the mid-range, which is where these drivers really sing. Perfect for Discord chat!
The in-line controls come with a 7.1 surround button, which works fine. It emulates 7.1 surround sound to a certain degree, and actually helps quite nicely with something like a Battle Royale like PUBG, where directional audio is integral.
Clarity is key, and you’re getting everything here. The Ampligame H9 can go loud as well, without hitting any crazy distortion.
For £45 (currently on Amazon), you’re getting a lot of bang for your buck!
Ampligame H9 – Overall
What an easy recommend we have here. Well built, comfortable, good audio quality and plenty of options straight out of the box.
The Ampligame H9 has become my daily driver now. I just pop it on and go, knowing I’ll get all I need from every game.
Sure I could invest in something more premium, but I don’t know how much benefit I’d get at double or triple the cost.
Exceptional work, yet again from Finfine!
