Halo: Campaign Evolved is real!

After weeks of speculation and leaks. Halo Studios have released a few videos and did an update at the Halo World Championships. Campaign Evolved is real, and not only is it a remake, but it’s doing a lot more, too.

Set for a 2026 release, the title is being developed for Xbox Series X|S, PC, and, for the first time in the franchise’s history, PlayStation 5.

Campaign Evolved

This definitive remake aims to faithfully recreate the wonder and mystery of the original 2001 classic while expanding on its legendary story and gameplay.

The announcement was accompanied by concept art and a gameplay reveal from the mission “The Silent Cartographer.”

Halo: Campaign Evolved will introduce a host of new features, including the following.

Expanded Campaign

The game adds three brand-new missions set before the events of Halo: Combat Evolved. Featuring the fan-favorite character Sergeant Avery Johnson.

Modern Multiplayer & Cross-Play

Players can experience the campaign together with online and networked co-op for up to four players, supporting seamless cross-platform play and shared progression. Two-player split-screen will also be available on consoles.

Enhanced Gameplay

The Master Chief’s arsenal is expanding with nine additional weapons from the Halo universe, such as the Energy Sword and Battle Rifle. Vehicle combat is also upgraded, allowing players to hijack enemy vehicles, pilot a Wraith tank, and ride with a full four-player fireteam on the Warthog.

Next-Generation Fidelity

The game is being completely rebuilt with high-definition visuals, refined level design, and improved controls. It will also feature enhanced cinematics with new motion-capture animations, freshly recorded dialogue from returning cast members, and a fully remastered soundtrack.

New Challenges

Players can remix their experience with more gameplay-modifying Skulls than in any previous Halo campaign.

Exciting stuff

Halo is one of the biggest gaming influences to us at ninjarefinery.com and a series that’s incredibly close to our hearts. With Combat Evolved being the genesis of our love (and pretty much everyone else’s!).

We’ve had the remaster, we have the Master Chief Collection so it’s always installed and a click away. Now we can get excited to play it on a modern gaming engine.

Unreal 5 isn’t without it’s issues. Hopefully Halo Studios really get it singing before release.

The series isn’t in amazing shape, even with such a strong legacy. So this has to land, and land well. Particularly when it’s coming to PlayStation for the first time ever.

It’s wishlisted and our fingers are crossed. We want this to knock it out of the park and put Halo back on the map. So let’s keep an eye on things and report back, here!
