Capcom are giving us another chance to test Monster Hunter: Wilds before release. Even though Monster Hunter Wilds officially launches at the end of February (28th), you can sharpen your blades and test your skills early with the upcoming open beta. Here’s everything you need to know to join the Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta 2, including how to participate and what exciting features await.
You know what happens now, don’t you? It’s all you’ll hear about from us both here and over at FullSync.co.uk because Monster Hunter: Wilds is going to be a significant game in our annual calendar.
How to Participate in Monster Hunter Wilds Beta 2
Joining the hunt is simple! Just download the Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta file on your PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, or PC via Steam. The beta will be playable in two phases:
Open Beta Period
Phase 1: 16th Feb. at 10:00 pm GMT – 19th Feb. at 9:59 pm GMT
Phase 2: 23rd Feb. at 10:00 pm GMT – 26th Feb. at 9:59 pm GMT
The beta file should become available for download closer to the launch of the Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta 2.
Keep an eye on your platform’s store! There’s no registration required – simply download and play. While PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass aren’t needed for the beta, you will need them to access online features in the full game upon release.
Before downloading, ensure your chosen platform has at least 29 GB of free space. PC players using Steam should also ensure their graphics drivers are up to date, especially those with AMD GPUs.
What’s Included in the Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta 2 Test?
This second open beta features content from the first test in November 2024, including:
Character Creation: Craft your unique hunter and carry your appearance over to the full game! (Players who participated in the first beta can also transfer their character from there.)
Story Trial: Experience the game’s opening cutscene and a tutorial for the fearsome Chatacabra hunt.
Monster Hunting: Take on a variety of challenging monsters, including the returning Gypceros – a bird wyvern first introduced in the original Monster Hunter. You’ll also unlock the Doshaguma hunt, offering a chance to familiarise yourself with weapons, monsters, and the agile Seikret mount.
While your created character will carry over to the full game, progress made during the beta, unfortunately, will not. Get ready to start your adventure fresh upon release!
Capcom has teased a few surprises for Open Beta 2, so stay tuned! However, be aware that you may encounter some issues, as there are known problems with performance, weapon mechanics, and game balance. The development team is working hard to polish these features for the official launch.
