2026

2026 is on the horizon and with some big personal changes. I don’t know that trying to keep up with as many current games as possible is viable. It’s never really been viable, but the never ending chase for website traffic has kind of pushed it.

However, what I’ve seen this year is that an increase in news posts means better traffic, anyway.

So…. that’s sustainable and more realistic to keeping the site on a gradual growth track.

Re-play time?

Aside from one commitment, which I’ll get to shortly. I’m having more and more nostalgia for great games that I’ve loved and want to play differently, or actually finish.

Red Dead Redemption, Cyberpunk 2077, Horizon Zero Dawn, The Witcher 3 expansions. Maybe Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Valhalla. There’s so many online games that update with content all the time, too, that keep me coming back.

It feels like a more relaxed approach to the year as I settle into the new world.

Of course, there will be big, new titles that can’t be ignored. But these seem few and far between. All trying to avoid the massive splash of GTA VI.

2026 will have one massive whale of a game and everything else will live in it’s shadow.

Having said that, we’re excited for Wolverine and 007 First Light which has just been pushed back by a few months.

Committing…

As with 2025, I want 1 clear goal for 2026.

This year was to finish Final Fantasy VII Remake. Which I did.

2026 will be to finish Final Fantasy X. A game I’ve already started. So no excuses!

There are a few others I’d consider adding onto this commitment. With Yakuza Like a Dragon basically done, I should see that through, too.

I fancy a re-play of a Pokémon game, maybe as a stream?

The one other game that I have to complete in 2026 will be Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. All those awards, all that praise. I have to see what all the fuss is about.

So that’s 2 RPGs being committed to, right now. With a view to maybe another one or two as well.

Monster Hunter Stories 2 has been a nice background slow-burn at the moment, it would be nice to see that through.

In 2025 I got my first ever platinum trophy, too. With Spider-Man 2 being the game that got the honours. Now I feel like that’s a real achievable goal with Ghost of Yotei, as well.

2026

There are no grand plans, no over-commitments. No promises to do more of this or that. It’s pointless.

The site is a hobby and trying to treat it like a job only spoils the whole thing. So 2026 will be more of the same and then some changes based on whims, and spur of the moment thoughts.

I’ll be shutting down a couple of the other sites. Experiments that I love at the time, but are ultimately costly and not worth the effort. All of these things are great ways to learn and improve, and so long as it’s fun, I’m sure there will be more additional nonsense.

Let’s see how it goes. But the last 3 months have seen increased visits, with records being hit each month. I’ll take that as a win.

It’s never going to be a big site, but SEO and natural age of the site means it’s slowly becoming established. Maybe when I’m 50 people will actually know what it is? Maybe I will by then?

Onwards

2026 will see the completion of Final Fantasy X, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Death Stranding 2 (can’t see it being done in time for the new year, now).

The pursuit of a platinum trophy in Ghost of Yotei, is on the cards as well.

Then, a new play through of Cyberpunk 2077, Red Dead Redemption 2 and continuing the new run of The Witcher 3. These aren’t commitments, rather potential stretch goals and aspirations.

We all know how this plays out. But let’s commit to those first two and see how new games come into the mix later in 2026.

Expect to see a bit more news and content about game updates etc.

2025 is done. See here’s to 2026 and navigating through whatever comes out way!
