Battlefield 6 Update 1.1.2.0: California Resistance

It’s time to pack your bags for the West Coast. Update 1.1.2.0 for Battlefield 6 dropped yesterday, and it is a heavy hitter.

DICE has clearly been listening to the feedback regarding the “feel” of the game since launch.

Aside from a healthy drop of new content via the California Resistance, this update focuses heavily on soldier responsiveness, a massive revert on Aim Assist behaviours, and a boatload of stability fixes.

Only a few weeks since the last new map and round of updates. It seems that DICE are working really hard to make Battlefield 6 the experience everyone wants. Although what that is, is anyone’s guess……if Reddit is anything to go by, they get what they want, then want something different. Over and over.

Hopefully this goes some way to calming people down.

New Map: Eastwood & The California Resistance

The headline for this update is the arrival of the California Resistance. We are getting a brand new map called Eastwood.

Set against a Southern California theme, this map is coming to all official modes. If you are jumping into Conquest, expect combined arms warfare including Tanks, Helicopters, and—perhaps most importantly—the tactical Golf Cart.

With some space down the sides for some flanking, it feels like a Golf Cart is exactly what I want for some sneaky captures!

New Ways to Play

  • Sabotage Mode: A new time-limited event focused on demolition and counterplay.
  • Gauntlet Update: A new mission type called Rodeo is being added. This is pure vehicle chaos—fighting over multiple vehicles to rack up bonus points for vehicular takedowns.
  • New Weapons: The close-quarters DB-12 Shotgun and the M357 Trait Sidearm.

The Aim Assist Revert

This is the big one for controller players. The developers admitted that the launch tuning for aim assist made high-zoom aiming feel “less smooth and harder to control.”

As a result, Aim Assist has been reset to Open Beta tuning.

This is intended to restore consistent targeting behaviour across all inputs. If you felt like your aim was “sticky” or fighting you at long range since launch, this should fix it. They have also improved input latency and stick response, so movement should feel snappier overall.

Portal Love

Builders are getting some nice quality-of-life updates in Portal.

  • Sandbox Map: A blank slate for builders to start on a level playing field.
  • Golf Carts: Now available in Portal. (Racing servers, anyone?)
  • Fort Lyndon: Added to the map rotation.

Full Patch Notes: Update 1.1.2.0

  • Weapon Dispersion: Globally reduced dispersion across all weapon types; fixed specific issues with sniper accuracy.
  • Progression: Challenge clarity has been improved.

    • Fixed the “mission focused” trait applying speed boosts to the wrong players.

    • Fixed clipping on various optics (Canted Reflex/Iron Sights).
    • Fixed underbarrel attachment alignment.

Vehicles

  • GDF-009 AA: Fixed camera reset issues.

    • Fixed XFGM-6D Recon Drone physics (no more pushing vehicles with drones).

  • AI: Squadmates are now more responsive to revive orders.
  • Audio/Visual: Fixed sync issues in cinematics and excessive bright flashes.
  • Performance: Resolved stuttering/desync on certain NVIDIA/AMD presets and shader stutters in the prologue.

Audio

  • New Sounds: Added sound effects for Double Ping and turret movement for Marauder RWS.
  • Fixes: Fixed missing footsteps on platforms, missing reload sounds on the last bullet, and missing “gasp” audio when revived.

Technical & UI

  • PC: Fixed an issue where framerate was capped to 300FPS on Nvidia cards.
  • UI: Added a “Thank you!” subtitle when non-squad friendlies revive you.
  • Settings: Added an auto-sprint option for full stick push. Added a dedicated keybind for instant knife swap.

Battlefield 6

It seems to me that Battlefield 6 is still staying strong. High concurrent player counts, and seemingly not impacted by Call of Duty Black Ops 7.

I’ve been having a real blast with the game, just running conquest, over and over. Like the old days, and the modern take on it just works for me. It’s excellent!

Here’s to months and months of further tweaks, changes and updates.
