Ninja Refinery 2021

I think it’s fair to say that 2020 has been erm…..a substantial year. Global pandemic aside, I had a son and moved house, too. So, yeah. A big one! Ninja Refinery has presisted, regardless.

Ninja Refinery is about games and coffee, not my life, and I continued on both fronts, albeit not quite as significantly as I would have liked.

A few coffee reviews, some game reviews, building a PC, building an online merch store.  The site has gone from strength to strength. Sure, progress is slow, and getting my foot in the door of the gaming industry pretty much eludes me still.

But it doesn’t matter. I keep doing everything on my own terms. I’ve had guest writers. I write for others, and apart from a few deadlines for other people here and there, I’m free to do what I want.

Learning how to best optimise content, how to make it more accessible to people in general and how to keep tweaking the site. It’s non-stop flying by the seat of my pants and that’s fine with me!

2021

I don’t know what’s going to happen over the next 12 months. I’ll keep reaching out to publishers and publicity companies. Coffee companies will continue to hear from Ben at ninjarefinery.com and maybe I’ll see a greater return on what I put out there.

It doesn’t matter though!

I’m attempting a full play through of Persona 5.  I’m determined to finish Sekiro Shadows Die Twice (12 months from today to get that done!), and I have a library full of games that I need to try.

Sod it, here’s a list of games I’m going to finish in 2021:

  • Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
  • Death Stranding
  • Horizon Zero Dawn
  • Control
  • Re-play Hitman, Hitman 2 and get Hitman 3
  • Persona 5 (yup, I’m going for it!)
  • Ghost of Tsushima
  • Shenmue 3
  • Rise of the Tomb Raider
  • Shadow of the Tomb Raider
  • Solo chicken dinner in PUBG

Now that’s a pretty substantial list!! 2021 isn’t going to be without stuff to do.

Add to that, the coffees, the brew methods and my continued efforts to master the perfect cup o’ Joe. I’m plenty busy doing my own thing.

Will more people suddenly start to care? Probably not. But that’s fine. I’ll keep trying, keep reaching out and keep on doing what I’m doing.

Hopefully my output will be a little more substantial. Certainly the last few months has seen work take up a significant chunk of my life.  But with a bit more focus and planning, I want to be a little more consistent in getting things written and published.

The guys at fullsync.co.uk have been awesome, and even though my output there has diminished over the past 3 or 4 months. I expect to be hitting the top of the “most published articles” lists again.

Onwards

New logo, merch store, refreshed coffee brewing kit.  Ninja Refinery is stronger, better and more consistent than ever before.

Now it’s content, quality and continuing to do this with a bit more focus.

If you have read anything on this site over the past year or so.  Thank you!

If you’ve read all of this. Thank you! Have 15% off the store for the month of January, code: IACTUALLYREADIT

Hope your 2021 is as good as can be!

  1. I’d like to think I could get a solo chicken dinner before you and I don’t even play PUBG haha

But seriously, keep up the good work and love the new store.
