Pokemon Sword and Shield: The Isle of Armor

The new Pokemon Sword and Shield DLC is finally out, and I’m so pleased to be back in the world of Galar.

Once I finished the main quest of Sword and Shield, I was left with very little to be bothered about. I don’t breed or care for shinies. The post-game wasn’t really there to keep my engagement.

I had a great time and kinda missed playing it, but there wasn’t anything engaging enough to keep me interested.

Enter The Isle of Armor….

The Isle of Armor

The first, and honestly, small DLC release for the Sword and Shield – The Isle of Armor takes you to a new island, with new Pokemon added to the game. I’ve now got a Bulbasaur, Squirtle and Charmander!

I’m wandering around, catching Sandshrew’s (best Pokemon ever by the way) and Cubone. Collecting new items to give my Pokemon GMax forms and just taking it all in.

I’ve missed out on raids and bits so there’s a whole host of GMax Pokemon to catch, and honestly, I’m just having a great time getting back into Sword and Shield.

My league-winning team has been torn-apart, it’s brutal. All of these new Pokemon coming into my possession. It’s been a gut-wrenching time, and I can’t let go of my Inteleon, not can I not have a Blastoise in my team. Such a traumatic time!

The Isle of Armor has a tiny bit of story content, that’s been fun to play and gain the new Kubfu/Urshifu Pokemon. It’s basically been the background thread, stringing my overall visit to the island together.

I’ll work on my team, and benefit from the new bits added to the Isle of Armor. It might end up being short-lived, but that’s fine by me because it’s great!

Pokemon Home

One side-effect of getting back into Pokemon Sword and Shield, is that I’ve been jumping into Pokemon Home. Using that to trade Pokemon, and even earn/get gifted some hidden ability monsters.

I had no idea that Pokemon Home had a free option, and it’s perfect for me. I can dip in and out casually, and get some new Pokemon into my game, and trade from my mobile phone!

Thanks to Stubat of Fullsync fame for the heads-up!

Just enjoy it

That’s it! I’m just sat with my Switch, enjoying bouts of play here and there. The Isle of Armor is light on overall content. But, it’s been perfect to ignite my interest back into the world of Galar.

Between that and Pokemon Home, I’m squeezing plenty of play out of it.

I’m going to start honing my team-in. I want to be ready for whatever comes next on the expansion pass. Because I gather that it’s going to be a bit heavier on content.

For now, I want the Gmax versions of all the new starters and the Gen1 starters, so I’m going mushroom collecting!

Catch me at a raid, I’ll see you on the Isle of Armor.
