Just weeks out from our original review of the gamer energy drinks on the market, and Wraith have seemingly decided to stick their middle finger up at me and change their product.
Note that this is in no way a reaction to the review. The lovely CEO of Wraith (Tom) actually reached-out after the review and let me know that “Project Game: Changer” was days away, so the timing was unfortunate. Our original notes around the powder and mouth feel were already being addressed!
It seemed to me that not only were Wraith passionate about their product, but they were also listening to their customers.
Whilst still cynical about gamer energy and some of the brands (Sneak have apparently decided to cheapen their brand by going through TikTok shop and cutting all their slick marketing, and really gone in a direction…..). Wraith have somehow got us interested in diving back in.

The review
Quick and dirty explainer of our re-review process.
Nice and easy. We ordered more product and a new shaker (shame the Space and Corpo shakers are sold out, because they look wicked!). Then waited for delivery.
We got 20 sachets, which I’m still working through, and a bonus tub of their Terrifier 3 powder, which has actually got us re-considering our stance on tubs, as well.
Then it’s following the instructions to the letter. Making sure we make a drink as intended by Wraith. 500ml cold water then well-shaken.
We’ve also tested drinking immediately vs drinking it after leaving it overnight in the fridge (50% of drinks for each method). We’re nothing if not thorough in our gamer energy endeavours!
Also of note are the updates and changes that I’ve been seeing. Wraith are adapting and adjusting to their customers in a way that some of the bigger gamer energy companies don’t seem to be.
Maybe this is down to size and scalability of different operations? It’s just seemed to me that whilst Holy carry on doing the same thing and Sneak push push push for more sales (classic shareholder expectations?), Wraith are more agile.
Now, lets end the glazing there. This is a neutral process, just thought it worth sharing some observations. I started the whole process initially last October, so it’s been interesting watch different companies change over this time.

Project: Game Changer
Wraith have taken feedback (well before our review) on the grittiness of their powder in a mixed-up drink and taken it to heart. Changing their entire formula so literally smooth it out.
The real question is, is it all marketing and hype? Or is there a difference and does it improve that overall experience?
Yep!
The company that got their flavours right and got their bottles right, now have their powder consistency right as well. This is apparent even when drinking it immediately after making the drink. With some likely added benefit of doing it a night before, but nothing noticeable.
Wraith have changed their game, nay, upped their game and there’s not really a lot holding them back now. The flavours and powder are doing their job and are better than counter-parts in the market at this stage.
What more can I say? They’ve fixed the criticism people had, continued with great flavours, and now the world is their oyster.

What next?
No idea. More flavours, more shakers, more brand crossovers?
I’ll be honest, I really really wish there had been public release of the PUBG stuff, because that’s right up our street here. Speaking to a member of the team at the Format event in Liverpool last year, he was saying it wasn’t put out to the public which is a great shame. But hopefully something like that will appear at some point.
Arguably, more interesting/exciting is that we get to just watch Wraith go from strength to strength. If they remain as flexible and responsive to customers as they have done, then how can they go wrong?
They changed their game, that should be rewarded with praise and ultimately long-term customer loyalty.
Great work Wraith. Top of the leader board for us now.
