Monster Hunter Wilds: Guild Reports

Title Update 2 is just downloading and after some browsing social sites, we thought it best to share the new Guild Reports that the Monster Hunter Wilds team are starting to put out.

A means of regular communication with the player base. Guild Reports are designed to share Capcom’s responses to feedback, requests and how they plan to address them going forwards.

This is pretty significant. Whilst the Monster Hunter team have had a pretty decent cadence of communications post-release. Guild Reports feel like a new layer of transparency. Now, of course, they need to back things up with regular reports. But to start with, the opened-up with 4 updates.

Here are all the details!

Hunters, the team is continuing to work on improving the optimization and performance of the Steam version of Monster Hunter Wilds. Here are some of the Here are some of the improvements included in Free Title Update 2.

Request: Optimize the performance of the Steam version.

Improvements: Adjusted the amount of VRAM used by texture streaming, reducing the amount of VRAM used overall.

Bug fixes: Fixed an issue where the “Estimated VRAM Usage” shown in Display Settings and Graphics Settings was calculated to be lower than the actual value. As a result of this fix, the “Estimated VRAM Usage” will display accurately, but will result in a higher amount than before. There are no changes to the current minimum or recommended system requirements.

As mentioned, we have also made improvements to reduce actual VRAM usage compared to before. Please review your Display Settings and Graphics Settings after updating.

We are continuing to work on performance and optimization improvements beyond those featured in Free Title Update 2 and will provide updates when we have Please review your Display Settings and Graphics Settings after updating.

Guild Report 2

Based on your feedback, we have made some improvements to the UI in Free Title Update 2.

Request: Make it quicker to access the map, which cannot be easily opened due to notifications and important chat appearing on the right side of the screen.

Improvements: The skip function for important chat has been removed, so the map can be opened even while important chat notifications are on screen.

In addition, when focusing on a large monster on the map, the area hierarchy will no longer be automatically switched, improving the usability of the map.

Guild Report 3

In response to the requests we received regarding Seikret, we are planning to make improvements in Free Title Update 2. Here are some of them:

Request: Seikret’s behaviour is slow and the operability is poor, so please improve it.

Improvements: When Seikret is called, increase the speed at which they head towards the player. When riding from a call, increase the speed of Seikret’s reaction to key input, such as changing direction after riding.

Guild Report 4

In response to community requests regarding weapon balance adjustments, we’re planning to make some changes. In addition to the weapon balance adjustments included in the second free title update announced today, we are going to make further adjustments in August.

Adjustments: Weapon Types Dual Blades, Hunting Horn, Lance, Light Bowgun, Heavy Bowgun

Adjustment Goals: Our goal is to reduce the differences in strength outliers between different weapon types, but we will only be making upward adjustments (buffs) without any downward adjustments (nerfs).

Once we’ve finalised the details of these adjustments, we’ll share exactly what they are with you, as well as when they’ll be implemented.

Staying hopeful

There’s a genuine effort here by Capcom and the Monster Hunter team, to create a dialogue between players and themselves.

With so many people impacted by the Steam performance in-game. It’s great to see some mention of it as it’s been a little quiet on that front.

As monsters and events are added, balance needs to adjust and fans will be vocal about what works, and what doesn’t. Now will be the time to see response and planned action. It’s a potentially tricky spot the team have put themselves in here. Online fans rarely hold-back, so hopefully it encourages actual discussion and tempers emotions a little.
