2025 is a year I didn’t really have our attention focused on in gaming terms. We’d forgotten about a couple of releases, and generally lost track of what was happening and when.
So, after taking stock, it turns out there’s a lot going on and we’re actually buzzing for more than we realised.
Here’s our 2025 most anticipated games.

1. Monster Hunter Wilds
We’re so close! I actually forgot how close Monster Hunter Wilds was to release, until all the press releases stuff around the open betas.
Being sold as the follow-up to MH:World in scope and scale. Then with advancements, changes to the core loop and weapons.
Monster Hunter Wilds is an event for us on 2025 regardless of how it lands. Day one, we’ll be playing writing and obsessing.
Will we play the betas or wait? It’s so hard to decide!!
The question is, will it be a game of the year contender? It’s got all the potential, but 2025 has some big titles coming, and there’s so many other games to go back to and commit to, too.

2. Two Point Museum
The second most-anticipated game of 2025 for us here at ninjarefinery.com is the third release from Two Point Studios.
Following the incredible Two Point Hospital and Two Point Campus. Games we’ve lost hours to, getting those 3 stars at each location.
From what we’ve seen on released updates from the studio. Two Point Museum looks to bring in some of the elements of Theme Park, along with their signature style and comedy.
3. Civilization VII
Civilization is always a weird one to be excited about. It’s going to take a massive amount of time to dive in and really get a feeling for how different it is. Particularly after a hefty 2024 run with Civilization VI.
2025 could have no other games coming and Civilization could totally absorb every waking hour. An incredibly strong series, with hit after hit.
Civ VII is likely to follow suit, but who knows?!
4. AC Shadows
On paper this should be top of the list for us. 16th Century Japan. Samurai, Assassin’s Creed. 10 years ago this would be a day one pick-up, if not a pre-order. However, we have Ghost of Tsushima which kind of filled this niche, and well, Ubisoft are afraid of change.
We love the AC series, and the core formula of the modern RPG version, scratches and itch, for sure. It’s just hard to feel excited about it for 2025 after release delays and general feeling of malaise towards Ubisoft.
Let’s hope it’s good.

5. Death Stranding 2
If Death Stranding 2 comes out in 2025, we’ll be surprised, for sure.
Still, Death Stranding floored us (eventually). The world, the walking, the music, the chaos and hard-to-follow story. Classic Kojima.
More please!
6. Fable
Another that we doubt will actually see the light of day in 2025. But……as fans of the series, cautious optimism is the approach.
How will it play and compare to the rest of the series? Will we still be able to get married and own a home whilst towing the line between good and evil?
Will there be any more Stephen Fry narration?
So many unknowns, so much hope.
7. Elden Ring Nightrein
This can’t be real.
Elden Ring meets Monster Hunter? In a fashion, anyway. It feels too good to be true, on paper. Mixing two of our biggest all time favourites into one Mish mash of tight combat and gameplay.
2025’s biggest surprise, potentially. The one we’re watching closely to see exactly what it’ll be, and when it’ll come out.
It’ll be interesting if anything else.
8. GTA VI
How many years in the making?! 2025’s biggest release. Potentially biggest release of the decade. That isn’t even being melodramatic.
A GTA release has become an industry-defining moment, on multiple occasions. And based on how long this has been in development, it’s gotta have a few tricks up it’s sleeve.
Too big to fail? Or resting on its laurels and out of touch with the world now? It’s going to be really interesting to see how it lands narratively, mechanically and visually in 2025.

9. Hitman: World of Assassination
This is cheating. Kind of. It’s essentially live-service at this point, so it’s continuing to release new content.
With a new roadmap, Hitman isn’t going anywhere this year. There’s plenty of contracts to take on and work to do! Plus, we need to finish the re-play of the rest of Hitman 3. So we have plenty to go at.
Hopefully some new escalations with recognisable faces, too. Although it’ll be hard to top Jean Claude Van-Damme.
A masterclass in game design, long may it continue!

10. Sea of Thieves
Similar to Hitman. Sea of Thieves keeps on going! 2024 saw big changes to player quality of life and loads of new, free content. Making it our game of the year in 2024.
2025 is going to be no different. Let’s set sail and see where the winds of the year take us!
It feels like we have another 100 hours or so in the tank for Sea of Thieves this year. Solo sailing or going out with the guild. It’s such a great game.
I’m definitely excited for GTA VI! I think it will be worth the wait!
I’m interested in Fable as I bought my first Xbox back in the day just to play the original. It will be interesting to see how it compares!
I am actually quite hyped for AC Shadows. Assassin’s Creed is one of my favourite series, and from what I’ve seen till now, Shadows looks promising.
Monster hunter wilds looks tremendous and gta 6 is gonna be absolutely amazing, i love videogames so much ❤
Fable is the one for me. Shame about the ugly protagonist
